Calgary NE
The Northeast quadrant of Calgary features amenities such as the Calgary International Airport, Deerfoot Outlet Mall and quick access to two main highways, Deerfoot Trail (i.e. Highway #2) and 16th Avenue (The Trans Canada Highway, or the #1 Highway). Even from the most northeastern community of the city, Saddleridge, it is possible to reach the downtown core in approximately 15-20 minutes. The Northeast also features the Calgary Zoo, which has been experiencing a variety of ongoing renovations and is open year-round for family enjoyment, as well as Max Bell Arena, which houses concerts as well as the annual Max Tournament for Midget AAA hockey in December.

The Northwest quadrant of Calgary is home to two of Calgary’s post secondary institutions, the University Of Calgary, as well as S.A.I.T. (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology). In addition to this, the Northwest also features McMahon Stadium, which is home to the Calgary Stampeders (CFL); Nose Hill Park, the largest municipal park in Canada at 1127 hectares; Shouldice Park, which features a variety of sporting fields in addition to a batting cage; and Canada Olympic Park, which offers skiing as well as other winter activities and where the 1988 Olympic games were held. 16th Avenue (the Trans Canada Highway) also runs through Calgary’s Northwest, giving the area preferential access to Calaway Park (an amusement park just outside of Calgary), Banff, skiing and the mountains.

Calgary SW
The Southwest quadrant of Calgary features some of the city’s best shopping, in the form of the newly renovated Chinook Center as well as West Hills (and Signal Hill) Outlet Center. The Southwest also features quick access to Spruce Meadows as well as to the Bragg Creek area. The Glenmore Reservoir and North Glenmore Park are two more wonderful features of the area, in addition to Heritage Park, which is open in the summer as well as for the Christmas season in December. Another of Calgary’s post secondary institutions, Mount Royal College is also located in the Southwest quadrant of the city, and is now affiliated with Athabasca University and thus offers university degrees. Fish Creek Provincial Park is located in the South end of the city, and spreads from the Southwest to the Southeast where Fish Creek joins the Bow River.

Calgary SE
The Southeast quadrant of Calgary also features preferential access to Deerfoot Trail, which has been undergoing expansion in the South to meet the demand of the increasing development of communities in the far south end of the city. Transportation to the downtown core from the most outlying areas of the Southeast is available both by the roadways (Deerfoot Trail and MacLeod Trail) and by commuter bus. The Southeast is also home to the Calgary Soccer Center and provides easy access to Race City Speedway, which is located on the outskirts of the city in the Southeast. A large portion of Fish Creek Provincial Park is also found in the Southeast, and features picnic areas, shelters, group fire pits and a variety of trails.

Calgary Inner Core
The Inner Core of Calgary is the main business center for much of Calgary’s industry. There are a number of great inner city communities, and at present the City is undergoing a campaign to revitalize these communities which, given their nature, are older. There are a great deal of attractions in the inner core of the city, including the Saddledome, home to the Calgary Flames (NHL), Calgary Roughnecks (NLL) and Calgary Hitmen (WHL), and where a great many of our sporting events and concerts take place; Eau Claire Market and Prince’s Island Park, adjacent to the Bow River and where a number of events and festivals are held annually; 17th Avenue, the infamous “Red Mile” which is lined with restaurants and unique shops; and Inglewood, which also features unique shops as well as the Loose Moose Amateur Theater. The Inner Core of Calgary is centrally located in the city and thus allows easy access to the other areas of the city.
